2014 Yard of the Month
 
The Douglas County Master Gardeners have awarded June ‘Yard of the Month’ to Janet Schildroth in memory of John Schildroth who passed away April 12, 2014. 2013 Yard of the Month

The Douglas County Master Gardeners have chosen the home of Jack and Diane Yancey of Daniell Mill Road in Winston as 'Yard of the Month' for August. Presenting the award to the Yancey’s are Sherry Beggs (left) and Linda Nunez (right), president of the Douglas County Master Gardeners.
The Yancey’s have many beautiful features in their landscape. In addition to paths of mulch and stone around their home, they have structures which include a log cabin, a blacksmith shop, gazebo, and small greenhouse. Diane has a small flower and vegetable garden enclosed in a picket fence, and Jack has a large vegetable garden enclosed with rabbit and deer fencing.
They have a well powered by a windmill and a "modern, working" outhouse. Diane's artistic hand is evident in the colorful gourds surrounding her garden. Numerous bird houses are placed around the property.
 

The Douglas County Master Gardeners have chosen the home of Lynda and David Winslow who reside on Pilgrim’s Drive as 'Yard of the Month' for July. Presenting the award to the Winslow’s are Linda Nunez, left, president of the Douglas County Master Gardeners and Sherry Beggs, co-chair of the committee.
Their yard features a winding path through their back yard created with stones dug from their property. David built a potting bench complete with running water. They have a Koi pond, a greenhouse and many structural features in addition to paths lined with hostas and hydrangeas.
The Douglas County Master Gardeners are accepting nominations for the 'Yard of the Month Contest'. Any yard in Douglas County may be nominated as long as it is not professionally designed or maintained. The Douglas County Master Gardeners have chosen the home of Larry Cobb as the June winner of the ‘Yard of the Month’ contest.  He lives at 6861 Creekwood Drive in Douglasville.

2012 Yard of the Month

The Douglas County Master Gardeners named the home of Bob and Faye Howe as 'Yard of the Month' for August. Their home is located at 8806 Clear Creek Court in Douglasville. Shown presenting the award is committee member, Marjorie Stansel.
Bob and Faye's yard features numerous plants and flowers including an orchard, a pond with bridge, a collection of antiques, gazebos, bird feeders, and a greenhouse."

The Douglas County Master Gardeners named the home of Ronald Kirby and Howard Shellkoph as 'Yard of the Month' for August. Their home is located at
4086 Chapel Hill Road. Shown are committee member Genie Gordon, Howard,
Ronald and Marjorie Stansel, DCMG president. A plaque was given to the winners from the organization.
