2014 Best Vegetable Garden of the Year Contest

 

The Douglas County Master Gardeners gave out awards Monday, July 21st, to three winners of its 28th annual 'Home Vegetable Garden' contest.
Awards were presented at 11:00 a.m., at the Douglas County Farm Bureau. According to James Kirkwood, chairman of the 'Best Vegetable Garden' committee, the judging criteria included layout and design, weed control, yield of vegetables, and overall appearance.

The winner of the best miniature garden is John O’Dell, small garden is Jerry Frost, and medium garden is John McNulty.
Each winner received a $100.00 cash prize donated by the Douglas County Farm Bureau and presented by Travis Henry, President.
The winners also received a certificate from the UGA Douglas County Extension Office and the Douglas County Master Gardener Association, presented by Marjorie Stansel, president of DCMGA.

2013 Best Vegetable Garden of the Year Contest


The Douglas County Master Gardeners gave out awards Tuesday, July 30th, to the four winners of its 27th annual 'Home Vegetable Garden' contest.

Awards were presented at 10:00 a.m., at the home of Joan Woodham, the winner of the best miniature garden. According to James Kirkwood, chairman of the 'Best Vegetable Garden' committee, the judging criteria included layout and design, weed control, yield of vegetables, and overall appearance.

The winner of the best miniature garden is Joan Woodham, small garden is Wayne Bentley, medium garden is Buford Portwood, and large garden is John Mcnulty.

The winners received garden plaques donated by Turners Feed and Seed and presented by Richard Turner. Each winner received a $100.00 cash prize donated by the Douglas County Farm Bureau and presented by Travis Henry, President.
The winners also received a certificate from the UGA Douglas County Extension Office and the Douglas County Master Gardener Association, presented by Linda Nunez, president of DCMGA.

Awards were presented at 10:00 a.m., at Turner's Feed and Seed. According to James Kirkwood, chairman of the 'Best Vegetable Garden' committee, the judging criteria included layout and design, weed control, yield of vegetables, and overall appearance.

The winners received garden plaques donated by Turners Feed and Seed and presented by Richard Turner and plaques from the Douglas County Master Gardeners Association presented by Linda Nunez, president. Each winner received a $100.00 cash prize donated by the Douglas County Farm Bureau and presented by Travis Henry, President.
